YUZU
Yuzu is a citrus-fruit note with a bright, tart character and a green, peel-like edge. It can recall aspects of grapefruit or bergamot, with a faint floral nuance that gives the freshness another dimension. These comparisons describe its smell; yuzu is its own fruit, Citrus junos, rather than a perfume recipe made by mixing other citrus fruits.
Natural yuzu oils are obtained from the peel, and distilled as well as expressed forms are available. Processing changes the material, so one oil’s development should not define every yuzu note. In fragrance, it can bring a vivid opening, brighten floral notes or create a fresh contrast with woods and warmer accords. The label does not tell you whether natural oil or a reconstructed effect was used. How long the citrus impression remains depends on the complete composition.
