WATERMELON
Watermelon gives perfume a juicy, watery fruit impression with gentle sweetness and a crisp green edge. Think of fresh slices and the contrast between soft flesh and greener rind, rather than cooked fruit. The balance can lean towards clear freshness or a sweeter fruit effect, depending on the surrounding notes. It can bring a sense of moisture to a floral or fruity composition without implying a moisturising benefit.
Perfumers can recreate that impression with fragrance materials rather than relying on juice. Givaudan describes Cyclamen Aldehyde Extra as useful in watermelon interpretations, illustrating one possible tool rather than a required ingredient. Shay & Blue’s Watermelons places the fruit in a fresh setting of green mandarin and cut grass. Neither example defines every watermelon perfume: sweetness, green texture and aquatic character can be adjusted in different ways.
