TALC ACCORD

Talc accord in perfume evokes scented body powder: a soft, diffuse impression that may feel floral, musky or gently sweet. The powderiness describes a smell and an imagined texture, not particles suspended in the fragrance. Talc itself is an odourless mineral; the familiar fragrance of a perfumed powder comes from what scents it.

There is no single recipe for this accord. New Notes, for example, places a talc accord within a composition featuring iris, flowers, vanilla and musk. Such surroundings can make the powder effect feel creamy and rounded, while another composition may interpret it differently. For a shopper, the useful clue is a cosmetic softness rather than a particular extraction method. The note name alone does not specify strength, lasting power or where that effect appears in the perfume.
