SUEDE
Suede in perfume describes a soft leather impression with a tactile, velvety quality. Think of the smoothness of the scent rather than a literal piece of hide: the effect can feel gently musky, rounded or softened by flowers. It offers a way into leather fragrances for someone drawn to a supple texture, although suede on a note list does not rule out darker or smoky elements elsewhere.
Perfume houses interpret this idea differently. Jo Malone London uses suede to give a soft textural background to peony, while Tom Ford presents a musky interpretation alongside rose and warm amber. These are examples, not a standard suede recipe. The note names an olfactory effect rather than confirming an extract of suede or any specific ingredient, and its strength and place in the fragrance depend on the composition.
