STRAWBERRY
Strawberry in perfume can suggest juicy red fruit with a lightly tangy edge, leafy freshness or a softer, jam-like sweetness. It is not limited to candy scents. Green notes, flowers and dry woods can shift the balance towards a garden impression, while sweeter materials can emphasize preserves or confectionery. The name alone does not tell you how sugary the finished fragrance will feel.
Perfumers build strawberry interpretations with different materials rather than a single compulsory ingredient. dsm-firmenich offers a wild-strawberry reproduction called Fraise and describes Furaneol as useful for fruity, jam-like effects. Natural-origin blends are also offered, such as Hermitage’s Strawberry Liquid; a natural blend is not the same as an extract of the fruit. These approaches can produce different results, so neither extraction claims nor a fixed note position or lasting power should be inferred from a strawberry listing.
