SOLAR NOTES
Solar notes suggest the brightness and warmth of sunlight through scent. They can feel softly floral, creamy or gently ambered, sometimes with the rounded character associated with sun-warmed skin. The idea is broader than a particular flower: it describes an atmosphere built by the composition, with the balance of freshness and warmth changing from one perfume to another.
Tropical imagery is one possibility, not a requirement. Tom Ford presents Soleil Blanc as a solar floral amber with ylang-ylang and a coconut accord, while Soleil Neige evokes sunlight on snow through citrus, white flowers and musk. These contrasting interpretations show why solar does not identify a single raw material or standard formula. The term alone cannot tell you whether a perfume contains coconut, which materials create its glow or how long it will last.
