SEA SALT

Sea salt in perfume suggests the bracing edge of coastal air: saline, mineral and sometimes slightly dry. It can give watery notes more texture or make fresh wood feel closer to a windswept shoreline. The effect need not be icy or strongly aquatic; a composition can balance it with softer, warmer elements.

The note is an olfactory interpretation. Pure sodium chloride is odourless, so the idea of salt is conveyed through aromatic materials and their associations. These are possible directions, not a fixed formula. A sea salt note does not establish that a perfume contains harvested sea salt, or predict its strength and duration.
