PETITGRAIN (TUNISIA)

Tunisian petitgrain has a bitter-green orange-flower character with fresh citrus brightness. IFF’s documented Tunisian oil is distilled from the leaves and twigs of Citrus aurantium, the bitter-orange tree. Its floral nuance comes with a leafy edge rather than the impression of sweet juice. The Tunisia qualifier gives a regional identity, not a guarantee that every oil has the same balance or is better than other origins.

It differs from neroli, which comes from the blossoms, and bitter-orange oil from the peel. In a composition, the green-bitter character can give citrus more leafy definition and connect it with flowers. The balance depends on the full formula; a note listing does not by itself confirm a particular natural oil.
