PEAR
Pear in perfume combines juicy sweetness with a fresh green edge and the impression of soft, ripe flesh. It can make flowers feel more succulent or give a woody composition a bright fruit accent. The balance matters: green facets suggest firmer fruit, while rounder sweetness can make the pear feel riper. The note is distinct from pear blossom or leaves.
Perfumers have several ways to build this effect. Bedoukian describes Methyl Anjoulate as a smooth, green-sweet pear material and demonstrates it in an Anjou pear accord. Natural fruit extracts also exist: Jo Malone London documents an extract concentrated from fragrant pear water produced during juice making. That specific process should not be assumed for every pear fragrance. The name alone identifies neither a cultivar nor a formula, and a juicy opening does not determine the whole perfume’s sweetness or wear time.
