OXYGEN NOTES
Oxygen notes describe an impression of air and openness in perfume. They can suggest a cool breeze, transparent greenery or a light watery freshness, depending on the composition. Oxygen gas itself is odourless, so the name is an imaginative scent description rather than the identity of a fragrant oxygen ingredient.
Perfumers create fresh-air effects with aromatic materials. Floralozone, for example, is described by IFF as green and reminiscent of an ocean breeze; it illustrates one possible approach, not a fixed recipe for this note. Such an effect can give a floral bouquet a more spacious character or add cool contrast to sweeter notes. Airiness describes how the scent feels, not how weak it is or how quickly it must fade.
