MAHOGANY

Mahogany in perfume is a wood-inspired impression that can evoke dark timber, a smooth wooden cabinet or a deeper woody-leathery texture. Some interpretations bring spice or warmth around that wood, while others place it beside tobacco or fresher woody notes. These are creative portraits: the name does not define one fixed smell shared by every mahogany fragrance.

A documented example from Jil Sander builds its mahogany idea with cedarwood, the leathery character of cypriol, ginger and aldehydes. Pierre Guillaume uses mahogany wood as part of a smoking-room image alongside tobacco and pear-tree notes. These examples help explain how a perfumer can suggest a wood through composition. They do not establish a universal formula, a particular tree species, or proof that an oil extracted from mahogany wood is present in every perfume listing the note.
