LAVANDIN (PROVENCE)

Provence lavandin suggests the familiar lavender family with a more pronounced herbal and camphoraceous side. Its freshness can feel brisk and aromatic, bringing definition to lavender-led perfumes or providing a clear contrast within a woody composition. The floral aspect remains part of the picture, although the balance depends on the lavandin variety and the way the fragrance is composed.

Provence, including the Valensole plateau, is an established growing area for lavandin, the natural hybrid of Lavandula angustifolia and Lavandula latifolia. Producers steam-distil its flowering tops for essential oil. The regional name does not specify a separate botanical species or a single scent: Grosso and the softer, less camphoraceous Super are among the varieties grown. On a perfume page, the note evokes this regional aromatic material; it does not by itself verify the origin of every ingredient.
