KUMQUAT
Kumquat gives perfume a fresh citrus impression with a clean brightness and a sweet peel character. Think of aromatic citrus skin rather than sugar alone: a lively fruit accent that can make a composition feel more vivid. Some interpretations lean towards ripe fruit, while others use a greener citrus effect; kumquat is not one identical smell in every fragrance.
The small fruit supplies an essential oil from its peel, and cold pressing is one documented extraction method. Grower and distiller Essential Citrus notes that variety and ripeness change the resulting oil, distinguishing ripe Nagami kumquat from greener fruit and other cultivars. Perfumers may also interpret kumquat as an accord. This means the note can suggest the fruit without proving which botanical variety or oil is present, and its role depends on the complete composition.
