JUJUBE
Jujube is a fruit-inspired fragrance note with a sweet, rounded character that can take on a candied quality. Its reference is the fruit of Ziziphus jujuba, also known as the Chinese date. In a fragrance, it can introduce a small confectionery accent among flowers or give a fuller fruit impression in a sweeter composition.
Perfume houses use composed jujube accords, including expressly candied interpretations. These are creative translations of the fruit rather than one standardized extract or recipe. A jujube note therefore need not smell identical across fragrances, and the name does not establish that fruit oil is present. The degree of sweetness and warmth depends on the surrounding notes; a floral setting can reveal a different side from a predominantly gourmand one.
