ICY MUSK NOTES
Icy musk notes describe a musky impression with a cool, fresh aspect. The interest lies in the contrast: a smoother musky body can sit beneath a sharper breath of freshness. This is a description of the combined scent, not a separate chemical family called icy musk. It need not be metallic, barely perceptible or entirely free of warmth.
Courrèges offers one example by setting musk against peppermint freshness in Hyper Musc, with ambroxan around it. Peppermint belongs to that composition; the label icy musk does not make it compulsory in another perfume. Nor does it identify a particular musk molecule or its source. When exploring these notes, consider whether the fragrance description emphasises crisp freshness or softer musk, rather than assuming a fixed intensity, duration or place in the note pyramid.
