GRAPE

Grape in perfume is a fruit-inspired impression that can lean toward juicy sweetness or the concentrated character of grape jelly. Some interpretations may have a wine-like nuance rather than a simple sugary effect. The name does not specify a grape variety, and it should not be read as a description of grape leaves or the whole vine.

Scented molecules help explain the range. Sigma-Aldrich describes methyl anthranilate, a compound found naturally in grapes and also available synthetically, with sweet fruity, grape and wine-like facets. That does not make it the formula for every grape accord. Demeter offers a gourmand example by pairing a grape-jelly impression with doughnut notes. Depending on the composition, grape can therefore suggest a fruit accent or become part of a richer confectionery idea; a note list alone does not identify the ingredients used.
