GERANIUM
Geranium in perfume combines a rose-like floral impression with leafy green and minty facets. The contrast can make it feel both floral and aromatic: there is a sense of petals, but also a fresher edge of greenery. Different materials can show fruit, spice or a more metallic floral accent, so geranium is better understood as a range of related profiles than one perfectly uniform smell.
The perfumery oils are associated with aromatic Pelargonium plants. Documented oils are distilled from fresh aerial parts—the portions above ground—rather than being simply an extract of decorative petals. They are also distinct from geraniol, one individual aroma molecule found among their constituents. Depending on the composition, geranium can support a rosy bouquet or bring its greener aromatic side forward. A note listing does not identify the particular oil used.
