GALBANUM (IRAN)
Iranian galbanum refers to galbanum associated with an Iranian raw-material origin. Its perfumery character can be green and bitter, with earthy, woody and resinous facets. Robertet documents an Iranian galbanum oil made from Ferula gum by steam distillation, while other forms, including an absolute, also exist. The country qualifier does not by itself make the note a different botanical species or guarantee a stronger scent.
Raw-material origin and processing location are separate details. Lotus Garden Botanicals, for example, describes gum gathered from Ferula galbaniflua in northern Iran and distilled in France. In a fragrance, this green resin impression may contrast with flowers or extend a woody theme. The note name does not establish a particular supplier, extraction method or quantity in every perfume; those details require information about the individual composition.
