ELM
Elm in perfume is a tree-inspired woody note that can lean towards dry bark rather than a uniformly lush, leafy smell. Its texture may give a composition a more rugged outline, especially beside herbs or other woods. The note name is a point of olfactory reference, not a guarantee that an elm extract is present.
Different perfume houses place it in distinct settings. Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab describes elm bark in a blend with herbs and musk, while Jorum Studio includes elm among the woods and resins of a coastal, incense-like composition. These examples do not establish one standard elm accord. A green, damp or smoky impression may come from the surrounding notes; neither a particular tree species nor a fixed extraction method can be inferred from the label alone.
