HIMALAYAN CEDAR (DEODAR)

Himalayan cedar, also called deodar, offers a dry woody character with balsamic warmth: a rounded, resin-like softness around the wood. Eden Botanicals describes its oil as having a slightly rough, camphor-like opening that develops into a more delicately sweet wood impression. The result need not be uniformly creamy or free of sharper edges.

The tree is Cedrus deodara, a true cedar whose native range includes the western Himalaya. The documented Eden material comes from India and is steam-distilled from wood. This makes the botanical identity more specific than a generic cedarwood note, a name also used for oils from other trees. In a perfume, the contrast between aromatic sharpness and warmer wood can bring texture to a woody or floral theme; the surrounding ingredients determine the final balance.
