COTTON CANDY (CANDY FLOSS)

Cotton candy, also called candy floss, is a perfume idea inspired by the airy threads of spun sugar. It suggests concentrated sweetness with a light, fluffy image; caramel-like warmth or a fruity touch can make the effect more rounded. This is a gourmand note, meaning it recalls something edible. Its sugary character can turn a fruit or floral composition towards confectionery, though the finished perfume may be gentle or very rich.

Perfumers can build this impression with sweet-smelling aroma materials. Ethyl maltol is one documented example, with a cotton-candy character and caramel and fruit facets. That does not make it the mandatory formula for every cotton candy accord. The note refers to a scent impression rather than cotton fibre, cotton flowers or actual sugar dissolved in a perfume.
