COCONUT MILK
Coconut milk emphasises the smooth, milky side of coconut. Its soft sweetness can suggest a creamy drink or the warm, lotion-like atmosphere of a beach fragrance. With flowers and musks, the effect can feel rounded and airy rather than like a heavy dessert. The term lactonic is sometimes used for this kind of milk-like impression; it describes the scent, not the presence of dairy.
The food is made from coconut flesh, often with added water, and differs from the liquid naturally found inside the fruit, coconut water. In perfume it can be represented by a composed accord. Maison Margiela, for example, describes the coconut-milk accord in Beach Walk as a reconstruction informed by headspace scent analysis. That is one documented approach, not a universal method or proof of actual coconut milk in every fragrance.
