ANISE
Anise has a sweet, aromatic scent that readily recalls liquorice. Its spiciness feels rounded rather than peppery, with a clear herbal thread beneath the sweetness. That combination can make a perfume feel edible without requiring the creamy or sugary character of a dessert accord.
Anise oil is associated with the fruits, commonly called seeds, of Pimpinella anisum. Star anise comes from a different plant, even though the two share a recognisable anise-like direction. In a fragrance, anise may sharpen a herbal composition or introduce a sweet-spiced contrast to flowers and woods. Its presence on a note list describes that olfactory idea; it does not by itself confirm which oil or other materials were used.
